Frequently Asked Questions

- What does Tantra bring?

Is Tantra a practice, a technique, or a discipline? At its core, Tantra is a state of being. It allows the vital life energy to flow again within yourself, in your relationships, and in your connection to the world. Tantra invites you to open your eyes to the beauty of love, to bring the sacred into every moment (even daily routines), and to live with more softness, lightness, and awareness.

This is the essence of Tantra: experiencing life more fully, more consciously, and more lovingly.

You can find more information about Tantra here.

- Who are these gay Tantra retreats for?

The retreats offered by Men’s Hearts are mainly for gay, bisexual, and queer men who wish to discover a different way of relating—emotionally, spiritually, and sexually. For many of us, modern relationships, especially in the gay community, often feel unfulfilling or disappointing. These retreats invite you to explore more authentic, soulful, and heart-nourishing connections.

At the same time, Men’s Hearts is not exclusive or closed. We also welcome heterosexual and transgender men with varied intentions: questioning sexual orientation, wishing to go beyond gender in their Tantric journey, exploring different understandings of homosexuality, or deepening their relationship to their body and sexuality.

Ultimately, any adult man, open-minded and willing to live a Men’s Hearts experience, is welcome. Here, each participant is seen and respected in his individuality and desires.

- What is the specificity of Gay Tantra?

As described on our Tantra page, Tantra embraces the whole human being, including both feminine and masculine aspects. Gay, queer and bisexual men often carry these polarities more consciously, which makes Tantra feel particularly relevant to them. Yet, traditional Tantra teachings rarely address men who love men.

Our French Gay Neo-Tantra retreats are designed to accompany men who want to explore Tantra in a way that acknowledges their lifestyle and sexuality.

While Heterosexual Tantra often emphasizes understanding between men and women, Gay Tantra focuses on relational challenges specific to men who love men, such as:

- A sexuality that can sometimes become overly genital or compulsive.

- A lack of deep connection during sexual encounters.

- A longing for tenderness that may feel incompatible with a more open and free sexuality.

Gay Neo-Tantra is an invitation to move from sex to heart.

Dedicated sharing circles allow space to address themes that particularly affect gay men and their relationship to sexuality (discovering one’s homosexuality, coming out, “gay-specific” sexual practices, etc.). The aim is always the same: to live more freely, more fully, and more consciously as oneself.

Without judgment or condemnation of any practice, our retreats affirm a unique approach: one that blends sacred sexuality with fraternity—something often missing in the gay community, where isolement, addictions, or chemsex can sometimes appear.

Every man, whatever his sexuality, deserves the chance to walk this incredible path of transformation that is Tantra.

- What is the specificity of French Neo-Tantra?

While much of Western Tantra often focuses on sexual fulfillment, French Neo-Tantra goes deeper into the realm of relationship—relationship to oneself, to others, and to the world.

This emphasis on connection is especially meaningful for the gay and queer community, where the lack of fraternity can sometimes lead to challenges such as loneliness, or disconnection. French Gay Neo-Tantra responds to this by offering a path of sacred intimacy, authentic bonds, and conscious brotherhood, while still celebrating sexual energy as part of a larger whole.

- Are the retreats held in English?

Yes. Every Men's Hearts retreat is fully bilingual. Guillaume and his team lead all practices, rituals, and group sessions simultaneously in both French and English. This means you will always understand the instructions, feel guided step by step, and be able to express yourself freely in the language you are most comfortable with. Our community brings together gay and queer men from different countries, so creating a safe, inclusive, and multilingual space is at the very heart of what we do. Whether you are a native English speaker or you simply feel more at ease in English, you can participate without hesitation and enjoy the full depth of the experience.

- I have never practiced Tantra, meditation, or personal development. Can I still join?

Absolutely! The only thing that matters is your desire to live differently in relation to yourself, others, and the world. All practices are simple and accessible.

The Men’s Hearts team is always present to guide you, no matter where you are on your path. Each retreat adapts to the group in attendance, so that no one is left behind. Tantra is not about performance. It simply asks you to show up as you are, with your shadows and your light.

- What about sexuality in these retreats?

While Tantra embraces the whole person, including sexuality, none of the proposed practices or massages lead to sexual intercourse. These are not disguised orgies but rather safe and sacred spaces to explore relationships, intimacy, and sexuality in a fulfilling and conscious way.

Tantra invites you to see sensuality and sexuality differently, with more lightness and freedom. It is an opportunity to explore your conditioning, expand your limits, and reconnect with your authentic self.

All participants agree to respect the framework set by the facilitators, who ensure a safe and supportive environment at all times. Read the Men's Hearts framework here.

- Is everything allowed in Men’s Hearts retreats?

No. A clear framework is essential in Tantra to create safety and trust. At Men’s Hearts, this includes: no sexual intercourse, respect for oneself and others, confidentiality, and consent.

Every participant commits to respecting these boundaries, and the team commits equally to holding them. Read the Men's Hearts framework here.

It is precisely when limits are clear that freedom can truly emerge. And don't forget, in Tantra, you can always do less, never more.

- I’m afraid of having an erection during a practice.

This is a very common fear among men. Because Tantra involves working with sexual energy, it can naturally happen during a massage, an exercise, or moments of nudity.

And that’s perfectly normal—it simply shows that you are alive! In Men’s Hearts retreats, erections are never judged, mocked, or shamed. If they arise, they are welcomed as a natural expression of vitality, nothing more.

- How will Tantra affect my love life and sexuality?

The impact of Tantra on intimacy is so rich that it’s hard to capture in a few lines. Tantra helps redefine your desire for relationships, heal relational or sexual difficulties, live a sexuality that truly suits you, and restore vitality by recirculating your energy throughout your body.

It can lead to a deeper, more vibrant pleasure than traditional sex, sometimes opening to Tantric orgasms that ignite the whole body. Tantra also fosters presence, creativity, and new ways of expressing your sexuality.

- During the retreat, can I choose the people I do practices with, especially massages?

Most practices are done either individually, in a group, or in pairs. In most cases, you are free to choose your partner. Your boundaries are always respected.

Facilitators are there to support partner selection if needed, but sometimes allowing yourself to be chosen by another man can bring unexpected and powerful insights.

- I feel self-conscious about my body and I’m not comfortable with nudity. Can these retreats help me feel better?

Absolutely. In Men’s Hearts retreats, every man is respected exactly as he is. The goal is never to be the most beautiful or the strongest, but simply to be yourself. Nudity in certain practices or massages is always introduced with gentleness, respect, and at a pace that allows everyone to feel safe. Participants come in all ages and body types, and what truly matters is not appearance but the energy you radiate. That energy is unique and essential.

These retreats are a powerful way to reconcile with your body, to accept it, and to cultivate a more peaceful and loving relationship with it. Many men also discover that the way others see them is far more generous than the way they see themselves. Through breathwork, movement, and conscious touch, Tantra helps you reconnect with your body as a sacred ally. The practices bring vitality, lightness, and a sense of freedom, releasing old tensions and allowing you to feel more at home in your own skin.

- Is it only about sexuality?

Not at all. While Tantra is often reduced to sexuality or erotic massage, its reality is much richer. Men’s Hearts retreats offer a wide variety of practices: sacred rituals, dance, meditation (both individual and collective), traditional and neo-Tantric exercises, massage, and more. Sexuality is one dimension, but the deeper purpose is to celebrate life, connection, and energy in all its forms.

- Am I too young or too old to participate?

Age does not matter—what matters is your desire to live this experience fully. Participants range from their twenties to their eighties, and every man brings his own wisdom, curiosity, and presence. What unites the group is not age but the shared intention to connect and grow together.

- I’m coming alone—will that be a problem?

Not at all. In fact, most participants come alone. Retreats are an opportunity to meet and connect authentically with other men. Many leave with deep friendships, and some even find a life partner. Everything is designed so that you feel recognized and welcomed just as you are. And if you wish, you may join a carpool with another participant to start building connection even before the retreat begins.

- We are a couple. Can we participate, and what benefits can it bring to our relationship?

Yes, and it can be a beautiful gift for your relationship. Exploring Tantra together helps you strengthen your bond, listen more deeply to each other, and discover new ways to keep desire alive. Each couple is free to participate in practices together or separately, and you are always encouraged to set your own boundaries. Retreats also include regular pauses so you can reflect as a couple and redefine what feels right for you.

Men’s Hearts also offers a retreat dedicated specifically to couples, with practices designed to deepen intimacy and connection. Couples are always an inspiration to the rest of the group.

- I’m in a couple but I’d like to attend alone. Is that a good idea?

That depends on you. If you feel the need to take time for yourself, reflect on your relationship, or explore your sexuality in a safe setting, then joining alone can be very valuable. Confidentiality is guaranteed, and your choice will never be judged. What matters is being clear with yourself about your motivation and your boundaries.

- Are the retreat venues safe and adapted for gay men?

Yes. All venues are carefully selected for their beauty, comfort, and above all, their openness. Our hosts are welcoming, respectful, and discreet. The centers offer inspiring natural surroundings, nourishing food, and spaces designed for group practices: shared and private rooms, a dedicated Tantra hall, gardens for outdoor work, and areas to relax. These are places where Tantra is already understood and welcomed, so you can feel completely at ease.

- What exactly happens during the retreats?

It is part of the tradition not to reveal every detail. The experiences we share are lived in a specific frame, in a particular state of presence, and words cannot capture their depth. Keeping some mystery also allows your mind to remain open and not over-anticipate. What we can say is that practices are varied, meaningful, and transformative. To get a sense of what participants experience, we invite you to watch testimonials or to read Google reviews because those who lived it speak best.

- I saw photos and videos of past retreats on social media. Why are photos taken?

Photos and vidéos serve several purposes: helping participants accept their body and identity, allowing them to relive the retreat later, and sometimes triggering deep personal insights. The complete photo and video albums are private and shared only within the group. The images published on social media are a small selection, always with the explicit consent of those shown. Sharing them also helps break stereotypes, showing Tantra as something beautiful, healthy, and inclusive—not shameful or hidden.

- Even after all this information, I’m not sure if these retreats are for me. What should I do?

Only you can decide. Maybe the timing is right, or maybe not yet. We invite you to watch testimonials, check reviews on Google, and subscribe to the Men’s Hearts newsletter. Staying connected might give you the clarity you need—and when your heart says yes, you’ll know it’s time. what happens at a gay tantra retreat? is gay tantra only sexual? consent & boundaries explained
